West Rock Ridge State Park
The Greater New Haven Arts Council published an article regarding the painting of a baseball scene on one of the dugouts at Mel Zeidenberg Field, which is part of New Haven's West Rock Park. The painting by artist Kwadwo Adae depicts New Haven-born Negro League player Major Robert Allen Jr. taking a hard swing at a baseball.
The mural covers over the dugout wall, which has been going through a repeated cycle where the city paints the wall, someone covers it with graffiti, and the city paints the wall only for someone to cover it with graffiti yet again. Hopefully, the graffiti painters will respect this painting and leave it alone:

Mystery Cutter Clears A Path, July 2, 2020
Someone (later identified as Alex Amendola, formerly a forester for the Regional Water Authority), cut a large oak tree blocking the trail in the West River Open Space area in June 2020. Note that the "bamboo" mentioned in the article is Japanese knotweed, which resembles bamboo, but is shorter and has a fragile stem, unlike the tough wood of bamboo.
